Jackaroo Jillaroo 12 Day Course
Europeans discovered the unspoiled pleasures of Bingara 200 years ago and continue to do so today.
It's a cozy little country town on the banks of the beautiful Gwydir River with a single main street,
a couple of pubs and many friendly Aussie characters.
When we started the 5 Day Jackaroo Jillaroo School here we had no idea how popular it would be.
Many participants who loved it stayed on and did two courses in a row! If that wasn't a big enough hint others
went on to work full time on sheep and cattle stations. Guests regularly said that they weren't sure if they would
get into the lifestyle initially but often leave saying 'If I'd known you had an extended program I would have planned
my trip to stay longer'.
Well guess what NOW WE HAVE!
To get a taste of the real Australia 5 days are fine but if you want to get the fair dinkum experience for
both good time and value then the 12 Day Program is it!
Stockwork is an Aussie bush way of life and the more you learn the more you'll want to learn. When you join our 12 day program you'll put your new learned skills from the first week straight to the test. You'll learn how to work with young horses and discover the unique background of Aussie stockhorses and why they're made for the craggy mountain ranges and a tireless workload. We give you a first hand experience caring for and nurturing young foals. You'll help watch them during foaling season and participate in the early stages of handling and foal imprinting. All our horses foal outside and the little tackers get up and mobile pretty quick. We have around 300 horses and about 70 foals being born each year. We are 'starting up' (breaking in) one young horse each week. With so many animals you won't be getting in the way you'll be a big part of this important station art...
Over a couple of weeks you'll "get bushed". That means to say that the style of life will get under your skin. There's no rush out here mate and our goal is to teach you the skills and mesmerising you further into the heart of our rural life. Sure it's not for everyone and that's just why you'll love it so much more - because this isn't the East Coast beaten track.
As a 12 Day Jackaroo Jillaroo you'll be right in the thick off it. There'll be intensive days when we'll put you to the test physically and if you reckon you can ride in the beginning we'll take the throttle right off and give you some bush riding smarts. Trading that office chair for a saddle will never have felt that good!!
